Arty stuff that I have been involved with: Eric Carle’s House for Hermit Crab was the inspiration. They were made from polymer clay. I call it ‘Story in a Bottle’.

 

It was my sister’s 26th birthday on the 1st of January.

Now more baking. I made some Magnolia Vanilla Cupcakes. They were very simple to make and delicious to eat.

More baking again: this time, caramel cream sponge cake. The cream was a success though I can’t say the same for the sponge cake.

Medley #001

Yup, I have been away for sometime…

The children had to make something for their mother’s day present , and being their form teacher, I decided to get them to do something cute and useful in way…
They got some red felt, some sequins,fake leaves, saftey pins , glue and scissors.

1. Trace a flower shape on the red felt ( Two sizes one big, the other slightly small )
2. Get the children to cut out the flower shapes.
3. Let them decorate the two flower shapes with sequins using glue on the top side only.
4. Place the smaller shaped flower on top of the big shaped flower
5. Place the fake leaf in between the two flower shapes, and apply glue in between the two flower
6. Let it dry and next cut a small piece of red felt , enough to fit into the space of a saftey pin
7. Get a saftey pin place the felt through the gap and apply glue onto the felt and press firmly to the back of the flower .

Hoping for inspirations once my parents teacher meeting and lesson plans are over and done with by next month.

Why is a butterfly called a butterfly?

Yes, I suppose that was the most silliest question ever , but how did the butterfly get its name. I couldn’t think of anything. Who was this person who initally named it and what was he / she thinking? An image of a block of butter with wings flying around was all I could think of. Margarinefly , Lardfly and whatever…anybody knows why..let me know thanks!

The weather , yes the weather is becoming unbearable. Lately it has been getting waay too hot for anyone here. I stick to the fan, since its uses less electricity then the air conditioner, doing my bit to consume less electricity and also lesser electricity bill to pay.

and here at 6pm, it feels like its 12pm in the afternoon…..

well, what else can I say about the weather, its just hot, heat, blazing , inferno, hellish ….and all the words to desrcibe this horrible weather… its making anyone and everyone grumpy.

My sister has graciously (finally!!!) allowed me to have my own table in our room.
She decided to change her rather large table and decided that I should be allowed a table too, after checking this Ikeahack website.

I found this table mat at some shop and used it for my table…

I had this Ikea storage / display unit for a few years now, it was just housing some knickknacks and cds.

I covered it with fabrics and applied acrylic sealer so that now I can use it to store my craft stash and etc.

Much more useful then before.

More crafting or beading really…this is my new craze and its so easy once you get your math sorted out.

Now to more important stuff….shopping!!

A sunflower , would make a great looking shower head thingy.

Imagine if you please, having a shower with an accessory such as this, I think it heaven if such a device be made to look like a sunflower, especially for those who are crazy about sunflowers as I am. I have to say that the layout has to be thought out properly, nothing too gaudy, somewhat simple and perfect.

On thursday we had a field trip to Changi Airport Terminal 3, newly built, I took very few pictures as my class was fairly in need of control. I have 3 pictures to offer, nothing of consequence mind you.

Why oh why do we need number 3! -_-

Time to get things moving…..finally!

Firstly, I quit my job and got a new job! Yay to me , hopefully I can stay longer in this new work place.

Secondly a few new additions and loss to the family.

We have a new bird (again) This is Nandhan!

Also Mata putih (although Mom calls her Martha, after Martha Stewart) passed away, I’m afraid it may have been due to the strong wind that has been around here, poor birdie must have been cold

We also got some fishies, but I don’t think I will post their pics yet.

I have not been able to craft much for some time, but I forcing myself to get inspired and after looking at some online tutorials, I managed to make these…

I don’t think I will be making anything out of them to sell though…unless I get some brilliant inspiration.

Sleepy Saturday

I just heard that my parents are coming back from their holiday tomorrow. ^_^ am so glad!!!
My sis and I had been taking turns minding our little doggie, since mom is not around the house. I had no idea how much stress that has given me, but it has been a stressful 10 days without mom! I miss her, and I hope she will have a safe flight back.

It has been such a busy 10 days, with things happening at work and getting worried about little doggie home, with just my arowana and guinea pig for company.

I hope she likes the new toy I got her to keep her happy!!

It was Teacher’s Day here on the 1st of September, I think, I have gained a bit of weight due to all those cookies, chocolates and sweets I received from the kids.

Now, I have not done any felt work for a while, but I did attempt to make my own earring and this is easy except you lose certain amount of your fingernails *argh*
It’s also time consuming, but I have no intentions of selling them online.

A friend went to turkey and got me orange tea as souvenier.

So, I met my friend yesterday and everything went well. We had dinner and later went shopping together. It was like back in the old days where we shop like crazy, except this time I had to watch what I was gonna buy.

Just in…my friend called up and said she can’t make it for pyjamas party…awww Maybe I could work on my sister to come and watch the movie.

So having done some art stuff, I decided to tag along with my sister to the library. I ended up not borrowing any books. Sigh. Instead, found myself buying some stuffs. Sushi,chinese pastry,japanese gummi sweets and some new teeny tiny toys.
